This time of year always brings to mind the passage of time. The early summer is blooming but like time itself we too must move on. Somehow it's hard not to look back, not just to reflect on this time of year but on life in general. There are some memories that always get to me.

The Lane

Come on down 'The Lane', sure we don't need a reason,
The weather's just fine, and it's our time of season,
The green leaves are calling, let's head out the door,
Oh! It's hard to believe, we're not young anymore.

Ah! Remember that summer of long, long ago,
When you were eighteen, and I couldn't let go
And you were my new love, my life and my dream,
How far away now, all those golden days seem.

And why did you love me? Oh! I'll never know,
But we made it together and made our love grow,
Our home and our family, we treasure with pride,
Thank God for your love and for you by my side.

Come kiss me again, my sweet flower of the summer,
Our summers are few, but we still have each another,
All the good days are gone, ah! We've heard that before,
For the sake of old times, come on, kiss me once more.

And we'll walk down 'The Lane' as we did in life's spring,
Here, give me your hand, and together we'll swing,
Through memories of glory sweetheart we will stroll,
Oh! It's hard to believe, we're not young any more.
