What's Behind The Donald Trump For President Campaign?

Is he really serious about becoming commander-in-chief of this great nation or is he just an opportunist drumming up attention for his own enterprises? A brief look backwards shows that Mr. Trump has been all over the place politically and has made negative comments about both Democrat and Republican presidents.

When I first heard about Donald Trump's possible candidacy for president I hoped that he was not a regular reader of the New York Sun. Back in 2004 when his reality show The Apprentice began I wrote a column for the paper entitled, "Sympathy for The Donald." In it I mocked his hair and his taste in apartment decor which I described as "ugly, gaudy, cold, more Las Vegas than New York, more like Saddam's palace than anything regal." My sympathy was due to Trump's being surrounded by sycophants who would not dare tell him the truth about his tacky taste or that his combover was unflattering. The article was not entirely snarky and I also expressed admiration for Trump's business acumen and for his ability to get things done quickly.

Now Donald Trump is all over the networks instigating doubt about President Obama's eligibility to be president and polls are showing that he's hit a chord not only with the "birthers" (those who believe he is not a natural born citizen) and others who simply want questions asked about his sealed education records. Naturally the mainstream media and liberal television hosts like Jon Stuart and Bill Maher are trashing the billionaire entrepreneur. Trump is taking them on with vigor and humor and I say more power to him.

Is he really serious about becoming commander-in-chief of this great nation or is he just an opportunist drumming up attention for his own enterprises? A brief look backwards shows that Mr. Trump has been all over the place politically and has made negative comments about both Democrat and Republican presidents. Although he said complimentary statements about Obama in 2008 he now says that Obama joins Carter and Bush as the worst president ever.

Now the media lapdogs are going after Trump as voraciously as they did and still do Sarah Palin and Michele Bachman. There is however a huge difference in the targets. Palin and Bachman can state their positions in limited venues which attract their supporters such as FoxNews and talk radio. Donald Trump is a billionaire with the resources to appear wherever he chooses. He has gone on the network morning show "Today" and "The View" and while the liberal hosts may attempt to ridicule him, the audience can hear what he has to say unfiltered and many are now saying, "He's right. I want some questions answered too."

Jon Stewart has called Trump a "crazy f***wad" and Bill Maher called him a birther and a BS'er. The attacks continue and Trump is unfazed by them smiling at the numerous polls that show his increasing approval ratings among conservatives. On a recent telephone interview with talk show kahuna Rush Limbaugh, Trump declared that the people are responding to his message. What his message is may not be what the media has determined it is.

It is true that Mr. Trump has investigators in Hawaii exploring whether anyone has information on President Obama's past but the missing official birth certificate may not be their specific target. What has been the most curious element of this case is why has the president gone through such lengths and lawyering to obscure what should be a simple request. That he was born in Hawaii may not be in question but rather what name is on his birth certificate. The question has been raised that when his stepfather adopted him his name was changed to Barry Soetoro and that name may still be on that certificate. When Obama elected to emerge on the public scene he neglected to change the certificate back to his more marketable African roots. An embarrassing element but no biggie, right? What Trump may have discovered, however, is the fodder for conspiracy aficionados. While Trump is not the only one investigating Obama's background, he is the most high profile and his involvement is causing other investigators to publish their findings.

The Canadian Press recently published a highly incendiary article by Doug and Joseph Hagmann, "The unraveling of Barry Soetoro, a/k/a Barack Obama II." They allege that the scrubbing of documents extended to his mother and other associates. From the Article:

"His handlers were and are globalists of the highest order, extending from George Soros to those above him on the proverbial pyramid capstone of globalists. The globalists had direct and indirect ties to the Dunham family and in particular, Obama's mother. Consider, for example, that Peter F. Geithner (father of Obama's Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner), worked for the Ford Foundation and oversaw the work of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, while she was developing "microfinance programs" in Indonesia. In brief, Obama's mother set up a large loan system in Indonesia akin to the savings and loan structure of the 1970s and 1980s. To gain a better understanding of her activities in finance, despite her background in anthropology, recall the BCCI scandal of the late 1970s. In fact, some of the same 'players' who existed then continue to exist in Obama's circles."

Is that why Geithner, an admitted tax cheat, was nevertheless confirmed to be our Secretary of the Treasury?

The Hagmanns also suggest that the McCarthy hearings of the '50s may have had some validity in asserting that communists had infiltrated the government. Wow - fodder for more ridicule from the likes of Stewart and Maher. Let's break out the tinfoil hats and UFO sightings... but, but, but...

I remember when John McCain was called a Manchurian Candidate and I've written that Bill Clinton would be a better candidate for that title given his mysterious trip to Moscow during the Vietnam War and his sealed Oxford records. John McCain may be a RINO and a compromiser but there is no doubt that he and his family love this country. Given Barack Obama's less than enthusiastic support of this nation's history is it any wonder that there are questions arising about his past?

What we know for a fact is that Marxists were present there and thus must have had some influence on his political positions. His longtime mentor and father figure was Frank Marshal Davis who was an active member of the Communist Party. His father, Barack Hussein Obama Sr. was a Marxist. Obama attended the church of Rev. Jeremiah Wright who is an ardent advocate of Black Liberation Theology, a movement drawn heavily from Marxism. The president, of course, has denied ever hearing anything untoward while attending Wright's church for 20 years. Nor has he admitted a close relationship with Bill Ayers, former member of the Weather Underground and a self-identified Marxist: If Obama isn't a Marxist; he's nevertheless done an excellent job completing their goal which is the demise of our capitalist system.

As for the nouveau Trump campaign, it may be wise to look at it with a jaundiced eye. Perot's entry into the 1992 presidential race gave us Bill Clinton as he siphoned off votes for George H. W. Bush.

My own opinion about the birther issue is that it is being used to paint Obama critics as fringe extremists and consequently legitimate questions are conveniently ignored by the pawns in the media. Besides wouldn't the McCain campaign have seized whatever opportunity arose to discredit Obama and if they didn't how could they be so dumb?

Personally I would have solved the mystery by simply checking his mother's passport to see where she was at the time of his birth. Duh!
