"Oh to be in Ireland now that the Spring is there".
Hopefully Robert Browning won't turn in his grave over the paraphrase of his immortal words, but Ireland is a place to be this time of year.
Spring, starts early, comes slowly and grows into an overwhelming display of nature's power. Making all of my many attempts to capture it in a poem seem feeble and unnecessary. Driving North up the 87 as dawn breaks on the Catskills, an old image returns.
The Vibes of Spring
Oh have you felt the sunny frills
That help the spring explode,
Or seen the golden daffodils
Along the country road?
Or have you heard the wild birds sing
Their song of joy that fills,
The heart of every living thing,
Around the sleeping hills?
And have you seen a naked tree
Throw on a summer dress,
Or wonder at the mystery
That nature's way's possess?
Of all the virtues that we do,
How great it is to give,
And God has given beauty to
The world on which we live.
Ah thank You for the seasons Lord
The buzz, the vibes, the ways,
And thank You for the reasons Lord
By which we spend our days.
