Out & About

The Tipperary Knights are coming to New York on Saint Patrick's Eve (March 16th) and are playing at Nevada Smiths... now that should be some party huh?

As I've said before, the countdown is on for the Biggest Saint Patrick's Day Parade ever and talking to the organizers it seems that they are going all out to make this the most memorable, I just can't wait.

If you have not booked a seat or a table yet for the Saint Patrick's Parade Gala Ball that takes place on Tuesday March 15 at Chelsea Piers well, you better do so as soon as possible or you're going to miss the event of the year, or should I say Century.

The entertainment has now  been confirmed starting with  Kevin Carey - playing the flutes/whistles, Cormac O'Malley on piano,  Emma Kate Tobia, the Darragh Carr Dancers, Michael Flatley's Troupe of Dancers and, yes, The High Kings. Now where would you get all of that in just one night.

For additional information, please contact Carla Capone at (212) 213-1166 or e-mail carla@carlacapone.com.

Now for some County dinner dances that are coming up, especially since Mary Power, the past president of the Cork Association is on my case... I better do the right thing for her.

The County Cork BP&P Association are holding their 127th Annual St. Patrick's Day Banquet on Saturday March 5 at Antun's (96-43 Springfield Blvd in Queens Village). Cocktails at 7pm followed by Dinner and Dancing to the Black Velvet Band. Call  Mary Waters (718) 899-6776 or Mary Hurley (917) 886-4196 for reservations.

The Longford Association of Greater New York is celebrating its 120th Anniversary with a dinner to be held at the Astoria World Manor on March 13 and the two Guests of Honor are Brendan Donoghue of Ballinalee and manager of the Pig'N'Whistle on West 36th Street and Cormac McCormack from Ballymahon and manager of O'Brien's Irish Pub on West 46th Street.

These two lads deserve to be honored by Longford Association as they host an annual golf outing to aid the Longford Hospice, which is always a huge success. Our congratulations go out to all the honorees from Cork, Longford and the Saint Patrick's Day Gala Ball.

I'm not sure if I told you about the new restaurant The Bailey Pub & Brasserie on Wall Street.  The restaurant is owned by Jason O'Brien (Trinity Place & Dublin 6) and his partnersinclude Executive Chef Donal Crosbie and Orla Maguire Moore and Paul Moore. I paid a visit down to them with Pat Burke and Eamonn Maher and let me tell you again, you have to hand it to the Irish as this place is superb... check it out!

Joe Hurley's 12th Annual All-Star Irish Rock Revue, the most celebrated musical event of the St. Patrick's season in New York City, will return to the Highline Ballroom on Saturday March 12!
