Missing The Importance Of September 11, 2001

The Dutch watched in horror as Theo Van Gogh, grandnephew of the artist, was slaughtered in broad daylight in 2004 by a Muslim extremist just because he had directed a film critical of Islam.

Excuse me for thinking that the Russians were wise enough to understand what the attacks on September 11, 2001 by Islamic jihadists signified. Incredibly they did not join the battle to combat this rise of terrorism and instead went into business with Saddam Hussein, a key sponsor of terrorism. Even after September, 2004 when 1,100 people, 777 children included, were taken hostage by Muslim Chechen terrorists in Beslan and 300 died in the rescue attempt, Russia has continued to support nations with dubious connections to Islamic fundamentalists. The recent attack on Moscow's busiest airport that left dozens dead and hundreds injured should drive home the truth of 9/11 - that it is a badge of honor for Islamic fundamentalists.

As early as a few months after the 9/11 attacks, it was apparent that our horror emboldened the Wahhabi Islamists that envision a violent world conversion to its religion.

England allowed an Islamic conference to take place in London that was jubilantly advertised with the burning Twin Towers on posters. The appeasement by that country of the Islamic community is so absurd that ministers have approved plans to allow Sharia councils in Britain the right to settle disputes regarding money, property and access to children.

A cafe, Beverley's Snack Shack, in Manchester was told by councilors at the Stockport Council that they have to remove their extractor fan because the smell of bacon offends the Muslim friends who visit the neighborhood next door. The irony of this is that the owner of the cafe is a Muslim Turk. But in Britain, offending Muslims has become so taboo that all government officials seem to have lost their marbles and whatever legendary courage they were known for.

Europeans have long painted Americans as bigots and violent racists and themselves as tolerant and civilized. Consequently they have bent over backwards to welcome immigrants from Muslim nations often to their detriment. The Netherlands built mosques with government funds for their new citizens only to find that these immigrants had no intention of assimilating. Why did Palestinian Muslims cheer when the Twin Towers and the Pentagon were attacked? Finally the mighty had fallen and there was hope at last for a world ruled by their radical religion.

The Dutch watched in horror as Theo Van Gogh, grandnephew of the artist, was slaughtered in broad daylight in 2004 by a Muslim extremist just because he had directed a film critical of Islam. Gert Wilders, a Dutch politician has been living with death threats and is under police guard because he advocates a moratorium on Muslim immigration.

The media has been thoroughly cowed since Wall Street Journal's Daniel Pearl was beheaded and the barbaric act was videotaped for all to witness. They coined the term Islamaphobic to label anyone who dared to criticize Muslims. MSNBC anchor Lawrence O'Donnell who recently took over Keith Olberman's show was interviewed on the Hugh Hewitt radio program and asked why he criticized the Mormon religion but not Islam. He answered frankly, "I would like to criticize Islam much more than I do publicly, but I'm afraid for my life if I do." He then went on to say that Mormons were the nicest people in the world. "They'll never take a shot at me. Those other people, I'm not going to say a word about them."

More and more since 9/11 we are seeing evidence of aggressive behavior in public by Muslims who recognize that they will be protected by a compliant liberal media and cowardly government officials.

My husband worked for a large midtown hotel as a bell captain and had to politely tell a Muslim man praying in front of an elevator to move his prayer mat to another area. The man arrogantly protested that he had the right to pray but eventually and reluctantly stopped blocking the elevator. I asked my husband if he had ever had to deal with Muslims praying in public that and he said no - not before 9/11.

BigPeace.com recently reported that a group of Libyan youths showed up in a Pleven Bulgarian central square, spread their prayer rugs and performed their regular acts of worship. Quaint or a symbolic act of propaganda? In Bulgaria, organized religious group, Catholics, Protestants and orthodox Christians are required to have permission from the local mayor. This brazen group prayed in close proximity to a functioning mosque and in front of a prayer chapel honoring Bulgarian patriots. See their smiling faces.

The Bulgarian correspondent then wrote: "But - when the powerful nations of Great Britain, France, and Germany tolerate the Muslim conquest symbolically sealed by the "faithful" occupying public places, what remains to a nation of seven million in the backyard of Europe? Submit and relax."

If our capitulation to Islam radicals is any proof, then we are no longer the most powerful nation on earth. We have a president who bowed to a Saudi king and a Department of Justice that refuses to treat Islamic terrorists as terrorists. This administration has renamed the "Global War on Terror" to "Overseas Contingency Operation."

In my article, "the Columnist Vs. the Madrassa" for the New Individualist magazine, I related the furor that erupted when I protested the Arab School proposed for New York City and listed the following examples of church and state violations by public institutions;

"The University of Michigan-Dearborn is spending $25,000 to build footbaths for Muslim students. In San Diego, an experimental school, Carver Elementary, has morphed into a school with accommodations for Muslim prayers and dietary needs not previously made for Christian and Jewish students. In San Francisco, the Byron Union School District held a three-week "How to be a Muslim" program, wherein students prayed to Allah and took Islamic names. When the case was taken to court, the liberal Ninth Circuit Court ruled for the school."

All this and many more examples in major cities run by liberals have taken place since our city was attacked yet Mayor Bloomberg and other city officials think it's all right to build a huge mosque only blocks away from Ground Zero. Perhaps they are too stupid or just plan craven to recognize what took place on September 11, 2001 but the significance of that Islamic victory is not lost on the leaders of the Muslim community.
