The Washington Ireland Program for Service and Leadership is an acclaimed six-month program of personal and professional development, that brings together outstanding college students from Irish Protestant and Catholic communities, to Washington DC every summer. The students, who attend colleges in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, will endure summer internships, leadership training seminars and public service duties. The internships will be completed in areas such as US Government, the media industry, business and non-profit organizations. When the summer is over, the participants return home to Ireland, no doubt richer for their experiences and with enhanced professional and interpersonal skills, as well as a new confidence in their ability to work together to make a difference.
