Caldwell And Robson Could Be Off To 'Boro!

Celtic's League and Cup fixtures were both postponed last week after snow storms raged across Britain.

Their Scottish Cup fixture at Greenock Morton was initially rescheduled for this Tuesday, but after another pitch inspection the game was again postponed.

On Friday, the club announced that they had accepted a bid from struggling Coca Cola Championshup outfit Middlesbrough - managed by former Celtic boss Gordon Strachan - for defender Gary Caldwell and midfielder Brian Robson.

Reports also suggested that Strachan was looking to sign a loan deal for Willo Flood and Chris Killen, neither of whom has a guaranteed starting place at Parkhead.

Strachan is understood to be talking to the players to convince them to move south of the border. On Boro's website he said, "We're trying hard to bring in people who can lead.

"I want to bring in leaders and men - that's hugely important now. I have to have people who I know, players I know who are men, who are leaders, and who know about playing at this level."

The Bhoys have signed Dutch defender Jos Hooiveld from AIK Stockholm in Sweden in a three-year deal said to be worth £2 million.

Hooiveld was Sweden's Player of the Year in 2009 and was part of the team that won the Swedish league and cup double.

"I'm delighted to sign for a club of Celtic's stature," he told the club's website.

"Celtic has a magnificent history and is a club with great tradition and great supporters.

"Having visited the club and spoken to the manager, I feel this is the right place for me and I am very much looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and hopefully playing my part in bringing success to the club and our fans."

Celtic also turned down an offer from the Premier League's Birmingham City for Aidan McGeady, telling the English club that he was not for sale, while, in other transfer news, Tours forward Olivier Giroud has confessed that he has given up on the possibility of moving to Parkhead - though he still says that he will be leaving the French club.
