Trips To Ireland Down Almost 17% In October
In October 2009, the number of overseas trips to Ireland fell by 16.7% to 551,300 from twelve months earlier.
This brings the number of trips to Ireland in October 2009 back to almost the same level as in October 2004 (555,100).
The number of trips to Ireland by residents of Great Britain fell by 14.6% to 276,600 while those from other European countries were down by almost 23% to 177,800.
Trips by residents of North America fell by 6.9% to 71,500.
Irish residents made 591,400 overseas trips in October 2009 and this was down by 7.5% from the same month a year earlier.
Trips abroad by Irish residents for October 2009 were at virtually the same level as in October 2006.
