It has always been my contention, whether it's original or not I'm uncertain, that attention to detail is the difference between success and failure.
Marion Horgan of Cobh, Co Cork, whom we've featured recently, pays a lot of attention to detail in her writing.
Not just in the big details but in the little ones that are obvious to us yet we never seem to pay them much attention.
This comes across beautifully in her book 'My Road'. Everyone should have a copy. Mine is never far from my bedside. If you have any problem obtaining a copy, please fell free to contact me and we'll organize something.
This week Marion has sent us a very seasonal poem
Underneath the Tinsel
Underneath the tinsel, far from all the glare,
There's a simple message that everyone can share.
Beyond the glossy streamers, the baubles and the glitz
Lies an age-old message that oft times goes amiss.
A star shone down in Bethlehem to mark a baby's birth,
A light has pierced the darkness to bring us joy on Earth
And still so many drift along confused and torn apart,
They search amid the tinsel, for some warmth to fill their heart.
In the chaos and the clutter, the dazzle and the din,
Let's try to find that joy that comes from somewhere deep within.
That light that brings true peace of mind is never far away.
Just look a little deeper, you'll feel its shining ray.
Let's pray that at this Christmas time our restlessness may cease.
Let's look beyond the tinsel to find an inner peace.
