Aides Announced For NYC St. Patrick's March

The Aides for the 2010 New York St. Patrick's Day Parade with Grand Marshal Ray Kelly

The Aides to the Grand Marshal for the 2010 New York City St Patrick's Day Parade were announced by John Dunleavy Parade Chairman at the recent Parade Delegates meeting in the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan.

Aides to the Grand Marshal are chosen annually by the Parades' participating organizations in recognition for their outstanding service to the Irish American Community of New York. The selection as an Aide is acknowledgement for years of unselfish dedicated and distinguish service to the community and for outstanding dedication and contribution to Irish Faith, Culture and Heritage by an individual.

The Aides will join the Grand Marshal of the 249th Parade, The Honorable Raymond Kelly Police Commissioner of New York City, when he marches up Fifth Avenue on March 17 in 2010.

"We are extremely happy to recognize outstanding individuals, and this year' Aides are exceptional" said Hilary Beirne Parade Secretary.

The Aides to the Grand Marshal for the 2010 Parade will be; James Barnes - Knights of St. Patrick, Matthew Devine - New York County, John W. Hyland - Bronx County, Catherine McCarthy - Queens, Bridie Mitchell - Kings County, Judge Michael J. Brennan - Richmond County, Michael Byrne - Nassau County, Thomas J. Jordan - Suffolk County, Cathleen Courtney - Westchester County, Rose Veronica Moroney - Rockland County, Edmund Burke - Orange County, Buddy Sullivan - Grand Council of Emeralds, Malachy - United Irish Counties, and Terrance McAdams - Aide at Large

"All of the Grand Marshal Aides have been chosen by our participating organizations and we are delighted with each and every one of them"' John Dunleavy Chairman stated after a meeting of Parade delegates last Monday at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan.

While all New Yorker will recognize the Grand Marshal Raymond Kelly, some of the Aides are very well known and respected in their life long fields of endeavors. John W. Hyland the Bronx County Aide serves as the president of Board of the New York City Auxiliary Police Association and received the Award of Valor, the highest honor that a New York City Auxiliary Police Officer can be awarded while on active duty as a Sergeant.

The Honorable Michael Brennan is the Staten Island Aide to the Grand Marshal and is a well known Justice at the NYS Supreme Court in Brooklyn and was a Criminal Judge from 1984-2000 Criminal Court SINY.

James Michael Barnes is this years' Aide from the Knights of St Patrick, and served as combat platoon Commander in Viet Nam as a Lieutenant in the US Marines. He is well known in New York City for his life long work in relocating over 700 businesses in and out of NYC. He directed the relocation of the Fulton Fish Market to the Bronx for the City of NY and has published the book "HOW to MOVE your Company and NOT GET FIRED".

Malachy McAllister is the Aide from the United Irish Counties and is well known contractor in the Irish Community. He is currently seeking political asylum in the United States arising from the troubles in the North.

Bernard Sullivan is the Aide from the Emerald Societies and he is the First Deputy Commissioner in NYC Sanitation Department. He directs New York City's daily operations for the Sanitation Department and his responsibilities include daily street cleaning to garbage removal for the entire City.

"We are delighted to honor all of these individuals and we are looking forward to a great Parade on March 17th, in 2010" Chairman Dunleavy said.

The official installation of the Grand Marshal for the 2010 Parade, Raymond Kelly and the Aides will take place on January 13th in the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan.
