What better way to comprehend this time of year than to look back at the recent seasons, sink into your winter being and shape your seeing with untouchable dreams, knowing you can Walt Disney-ize your imagination from a refreshing distance?
Our poem this week comes from Clare Murphy, a former School Principal and now a member of the Douglas Writers' Group in Cork. Ireland. Clare's has writen a lovely lyrical poem that inspires the imagination, the refreshing metre and rhyme shows how a touch of the masters hand and envelope us all.
An Ordinary House
Under the stairs in the old great house
Is the family home of a little grey mouse.
Under the floorboards cosy and warm,
Hidden from humans they'll come to no harm
Mr and Mrs came in from the cold
And set up their home - a sight to behold!
The young ones scampered and had lots of fun,
Nibbled on cheese and crumbs of iced bun.
Little grey mice are not like us boys,
They don't go to school or play with their toys.
Little grey mice are not like us girls,
Pretty and dancing with pirouette twirls.
The mouse family sleeps mostly by day
It's too risky to dare come out to play.
At night-time this changes as people all sleep
And into the kitchen the little mice creep.
Under the table, under the chair,
Hoping to find some gourmet food fare!
Hither and thither they scamper and search,
As quiet as their neighbours who live in the church.
Ding-dong-ding, chimes the grandfather clock,
To the hallway they run somewhat in shock!
The party is over and with no time to spare,
To their home they all scurry under the stairs.
