Tánaiste Appoints Hugh Cooney As New Chairperson Of Enterprise Ireland

The Tánaiste paid tribute to Mr Pat Molloy, the outgoing Chairperson of Enterprise Ireland. She thanked him for his tireless efforts and unstinting dedication on behalf of Enterprise Ireland and its client companies over the last 10 years.

Mary Coughlan, T.D., Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, announced the appointment of Mr Hugh Cooney as the new Chairperson of Enterprise Ireland on Monday.

Announcing the appointment, the Tánaiste said, "I am delighted to welcome Hugh as Chairperson and wish him every success in his new role. He takes up this position at a time when we are facing significant challenges in the global economic environment. I have every confidence that Hugh's valuable experience and knowledge will contribute greatly to the further growth and internationalisation of Irish enterprise."

Hugh Cooney is Head of Corporate Finance in BDO Simpson Xavier. He has considerable experience in sale of businesses, acquisitions, equity and debt fundraising and the provision of strategic advice to companies. He also currently serves as Chairperson of the Trustees of Arnotts Pension Fund, chairperson of Siteserv plc and is a non executive Director of Origin Enterprises plc.
