Slight Increase In Overseas Trips

In May 2008, overseas trips by Irish residents increased by just 1.8% to 677,400 compared to May 2007.

This brings the total number of overseas trips for the first five months of 2008 to 3,044,700, which was 6.5% more than the same period in 2007.

There were 805,800 overseas trips to Ireland in May 2008, which was 14.2% more than the same month in 2007.

Trips to Ireland by residents of Great Britain grew by 11% to 398,000 while those from Other Europe grew by just under 24% to 272,500.
