Live Register Above 200,000

The seasonally adjusted Live Register total increased from 199,700 in April to 207,300 in May, an increase of 7,600. By comparison, the average monthl increase in the seasonally adjusted Live Register during 2008 was 7,000 up to April.

In the year to May 2008, there was an unadjusted increase of 47,746 (up 31.0%).

This compares with an unadjusted increase of 41,279 (up26.7%) in the year to April 2008.

The monthly increase in the seasonally adjusted series consisted of an increase of 4,100 men and an increase of 3,400 women.
