Out & About

John Fitzpatrick with funny man Brendan Grace, golf legend Christy O'Connor Jr. and MC Ronan Collins
We had a few visitors all the way from Sydney, Australia - our own Mike Bowen and a Friend of his Philip Coleman.
Mike does a column from 'down under' on a regular basis and it has proven very popular with our readers. Mike is so funny that no matter where we went either for dinner or cocktails he had the patrons in stitches with his humor and his stories. On his visit to New York we got them tickets to see the Mets play the Yankees last weekend and they said it was the best experiences that they ever had before they left for Cork, Ireland.
We stopped in at the Galway Hooker for a few where Mike and Philip joined us. Mike fell in love with the barmaid Camaron Kass who was very pleasant and courteous and of course we could not get a word in with Mike doing all the talking! Went then went along to the Public House on 41st street for a meal and got to meet Elvis one of the partners at the establishment. Now there's an owner who is always friendly to all his customers and continually making sure everybody is comfortable. The Public House also have great bar staff - the very minute you walk in you are served and there's always a great atmosphere.
Fitzpatrick hotels had their annual golf outing on Monday last at the Knollwood Country Club. It was a huge success again as usual with a big turn out from the cream of the Irish community in attendance.
Amoung the golfers and guests were Brendan Grace; Brendan Singleton; Frank Gillispie (McCarthy's Bar & Restaurant, Florida); Eddie Dowling (Padded Wagon); Kieran McLoughlin (American-Ireland Fund); one of Irelands greatest golfers Christy O'Connor Jr.; Our host John Fitzpaprick; Diarmuid Hogan (Global Excess Partners); Attrata Lyndon (Dooley Rent A Car); Lorraine Turner; Andy Pike; John Breslin; Ed Kenney (Mutual of America); the great Ronan Collins out from Ireland and of course all the Fitzpatrick employees who work very hard to make this annual event a wonderful success. Our own Tony Quinn won a prize a set of Golf Clubs and a nice bag to go with them, you lucky son of #@*$!
Jeff St. Ledger of Petition Bar on 9th Avenue is 40 years old on Sunday and if you would like to wish him a Happy Birthday come along to his party on Sunday at Lunasa on 1st Avenue as our guest.
Donal Dennehy of Mister Dennehy's bar and restaurant was seen at Nevada Smith's last week - he must be checking out the place for some ideas for his own store or was it Johnny Holmes he was checking out? This man is full of talent both behind the bar and as a DJ.
We paid a visit down to the Central bar on 9th street to meet Leslie the manager who is just great at what she does best, she always has a big friendly smile and is very good at her job, Gillis and Jimmy are very lucky to have this girl.
Until next week, take care.
