Cork Players Strike Continues

Despite mediation efforts by Kieran Mulvey and Padraig Duffy and separate meetings by both sides to the dispute, there is no end in sight to the ongoing strike by the Cork players.

On Sunday a second fallout by the hurlers resulted in an unanimous decision to remain on strike with their football colleagues and a decision by both panels to forgo any play for the entire 2008 season if necessary.

The football panel had given the hurlers the option of playing this year.

However, the hurlers have not decided to remain hand-in-hand with their county colleagues as the subject matter of the dispute could affect the hurlers next year if it is not resolved this year.

It now appears that the only development that will result in the strike being called off is for the newly appointed football manager, Teddy Holland and his four selectors to resign.

From recent statements by Holland and the County Board who appointed, him that is unlikely to happen in the near future.

Collins To Miss League Campaign

Galway captain, Daniel Collins is set to miss Galway's entire league campaign. Collins injured his knee in the Railway Cup final last October.

He is presently recuperating from the resulting operation and is not expected to resume training until late April at the earliest.

Limerick's Injury Woes Continue

Limerick's hurlers will have to play the majority of their league games without the services of Niall Moran, Brian Begly and Brian Geary.

All three players are recovering from injury and have not yet returned to squad training.
