Arsenal Retake The Lead

United Stumbles Against Spurs And Falls Into Second Place

Manchester City 1 Arsenal 3

In Saturday's early game, Emmanuel Adebayor scored twice to down City. The Togo International opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Adebayor then had a hand in Arsenal's second in the 26th minute when he headed Gael Clichy's cross back across goal for Eduardo Da Silva to score. City pulled one back through Gelson Fernandes two minutes later but Adebayor notched his 21st goal of the season in the 88th minute to seal the points for the Gunners.

Tottenham Hotspur 1 Manchester United 1

Later on Saturday, a late, late equalizer from Carlos Tevez gave Man Utd a point as they drew 1-1 with Tottenham. Dimitar Berbatov scored his 14th goal of the season in the 21st minute and it looked like Spurs would take the 3 points. But a Luis Nani corner in injury time at the end of the second half found Tevez and his shot, after a deflection off Michael Dawson, found the back of the net.

Portsmouth 1 Chelsea 1

Jermain Defoe scored on his debut to give Portsmouth a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Fratton Park. Nicolas Anelka had put Chelsea 1-0 up in the 55th minute. But former Spurs striker Defoe equalized from Milan Baros' header nine minutes later.

Liverpool 3 Sunderland 0

At Anfield Liverpool scored three in the second-half to beat Sunderland 3-0. The Black Cats had stood firm in the first 45 but goals from Peter Crouch, Fernando Torres and a Steven Gerrard penalty sent Liverpool back into fifth place in the EPL.

Blackburn Rovers 0 Everton 0

Blackburn and Everton played out a goalless draw at Ewood. Andy Johnson's late strike was controversially disallowed for offside to deal a blow to Everton's Champions League hopes. The Toffees dominated the game, creating several good chances and hitting the post through midfielder Manuel Fernandes.

Wigan Athletic 1 West Ham United 0

Wigan climbed out of the relegation zone after Kevin Kilbane headed home a Ryan Taylor free-kick on the stroke of half-time to give them a 1-0 victory over West Ham at the JJB Stadium.

Reading 0 Bolton Wanderers 2

Reading went down to a 2-0 defeat to Bolton at the Madejski. Kevin Nolan thumped home Kevin Davies' knockdown in the 33rd minute and Gary Megson's side doubled their lead in the 58th minute when Heidar Helguson ran on to Taylor's cross before scoring. Matthew Taylor had missed a penalty in the 23rd-minute.

Birmingham City 1 Derby County 1

Emanuel Villa headed an equalizer two minutes from time to give Derby a point in a 1-1 draw with Birmingham at St Andrews. Sebastian Larsson's 68th-minute goal had given the Blues the lead but Villa latched on to a cross from Dean Leacock to equalize for Paul Jewell's side.

Newcastle United 1 Middlesbrough 1

On Sunday, Robert Huth's late equalizer denied Newcastle their first victory under Kevin Keegan's in the Tyne-Tees derby at St James' Park. Michael Owen had given the Magoies a 1-0 lead on the hour mark but Newcastle couldn't find the killer second goal. Huth's header from a Julio Arca cross gave 'Boro an equalizer three minutes from time.

Fulham 2 Aston Villa 1

In Sunday's other game, Fulham came-from-behind to record a vital victory over Aston Villa. Jimmy Bullard scored an 86th-minute free-kick to give Roy Hodgson his first win since he replaced Lawrie Sanchez as manager. An own goal from former Villa defender Aaron Hughes had put the visitors in front after 69 but that lead lasted just four minutes as Simon Davies swept home Bullard's cross to equalize.
