Fitzgerald's Clare Days Maybe Over


New Clare manager, Mick McNamara has hinted that former goalkeeper Davy Fitzgerald may not reappear in the county jersey again.
It will be remembered that last year Fitzgerald the county panel after a dispute with the then manager, Tony Considine. It was expected that McNamara would attempt to entice Fitzgerald back into the county panel for the 2008 campaign.  However, when recently asked about the matter McNamara replied that, it is time to bring in fresh talent for all positions, including that of the goalkeeping position. Unless McNamara changes his mind it appears that one of the more high-profile members of Clare's great team of the 1990s will now have to content himself with club hurling for Sixmilebridge.

Cork Players' Strike's First Victim


The stand-off between the Cork hurlers and the County board has caused the game between Cork and Limerick Institute of technology in the Waterford Crystal tournament to be postponed.  The game has being provisionally fixed for next week but unless the strike is called off in the meantime, it is almost certainly to be postponed indefinitely.

Multi-Million Complex For Tyrone


A new multi-million ultra modern training complex for Tyrone teams has been announced.  A 30 acre site has been purchased at Ballygawley, between Dungannon and Omagh to accommodate the enterprise.  The entire project, which will cost around €8 million will comprise at least six pitches. When completed the complex will be available to all Tyrone teams, including football, hurling, Camogie, ladies football and all county-based schools and colleges.

New Kerry Hurling Coach


Pat Heffernan from the Blackrock club in Limerick has been appointed new coach to the Kerry hurling team.  A member of the Limerick team so sensationally beaten by Offaly in the 1994 all Ireland final has previously coached Kilmallock and Cork senior club, Bride Rovers. He captained UCC to Fitzgibbon cup success in 1989/90.

Farrell Forced To Take A Break


Brian Farrell, the Meath corner forward has been advised to take an extended break from the game.  Top scorer in the country during the 2006/07 league campaign.  Farrell has had a prolonged groin problem which it is hoped it will correct itself over the next few months.

Fennelly To Coach Mount Sion


Former Kilkenny Capt, Liam Fennelly the only player to receive the old Liam McCarthy cup (1983) and its replacement (1992) has been appointed coach to the Mount Sion team.  The Waterford city team, who will this year be bidding for a 43rd county title will be captained by all-star Ken McGrath.

Munster Club Champions, Nemo Rangers added the league title to their collection following this hard earned two points win over Limerick champions St Mary's at Limerick.
Paul Kerrigan, son of Nemo legend, Jimmy Kerrigan was the winners main player.  In addition to scoring six points of his side's total, Kerrigan's work rate throughout the game was largely instrumental in securing his team's third successive league title. C
