Magner's Celtic League Roundup
Leinster 29 Ulster 0
Leinster reclaimed top spot in the League table following this very comfortable win over a disjointed Ulster at the RDS. However, the only disappointing aspect of the win was Leinster's failure to secure a bonus point despite ample opportunities to do so.
That Leinster led by only 9 points at the interval was as much to do with their own shortcomings rather than anything that Ulster could offer.
Leinster did improve considerably in the second half and a try in the 56th minute by Healy put the game totally out of Ulster's reach.
Despite being totally dominant for the remaining quarter of the game Leinster could only muster one more try, a failing that could prove decisive later on in the season when league placings are finalised.
Munster 17 Connacht 0
Munster kept pace with the league leaders, Leinster, following a hard earned win over Connacht at Galway.
This was an awful spectacle played in wretched conditions. Driving wind and rain ensured that free flowing rugby was at a premium, the game early on becoming a forwards' battle.
It was no surprise that all of Munster's points in the opening half came from the boot of out half, Paul Warwick, to give his team a 12-0 lead at the break.
To their credit Connacht did not make life easy for Munster in the second half despite playing against the elements. The crucial score that decided the game came Munster's way in the 50th minute when Denis Leamy finished off a good move for the game's only try.
Following the weekend games Leinster now lead the table with 28 points ahead of the Cardiff Blues (27) and Munster (25).
