Medical tests are reported to have confirmed that Katy French, the Irish socialite/model, who passed away last Thursday, five days after collapsing at a party, had traces of cocaine in her body at the time of her death.
A post-mortem examination, carried out by state pathologist Marie Cassidy, meanwhile, has determined that the 24-year-old died from brain damage.
Further toxicology tests are currently being carried out, to discover whether there were any other toxic substances in her body, and Gardai investigating her death will have to wait to confirm the precise cause of her death. French confirmed in a recent interview that she had used cocaine for recreational purposes, but had gone on to encourage children to steer clear of the drug.
A full investigation is being carried out into the model's death by Gardai, to find whether there were any suspicious or criminal circumstances surrounding her death.
Katy French died, having spent several days in a coma after collapsing at a house in Kilmessan, County Meath.
Her funeral service was held on Monday, and her family, parents John and Janet, and sister, Jill, have requested donations be made to the charity, GOAL, for its Street Children of Calcutta Fund.
