Overseas Travel Rose Again In October

According to a new report from the Central Statistics Office, there were 670,100 overseas trips by Irish Residents in October 2007 compared with 591,700 in October 2006, an increase of 78,400.

During the same month, there were 664,200 trips to Ireland from overseas, compared with 644,500 in October 2006, an increase of 19,700.

Residents of Great Britain made up the bulk of visitors to Ireland, an increase of 7,200 on the year accounting for 52% of the total.

Trips to Ireland by residents of North America increased by 1,100, with the number of visitors from the U.S. making up 12% of the total.
