Out & About

Maeve O'Malley has her contact list out and is planning the annual Christmas lunch. As far as we know it will be at Eamonn's with her loyal friends Aine Sheridan and Anne Tarrant. It could be a long day, time to hide the salt and peppers...

Congratulations to Tommy Smyth - the new 2008 New York Saint Patrick's Day Parade Grand Marshal - there will be a lot of singing and dancing in County Louth... Dr. Ian Paisley, Northern Ireland's First Minister, and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness were the happy couple last week in the city and were seen at more than a few events... Kieran McLoughlin was in the company of the Northern Ireland Ministers at the New York Stock Exchange complete with that great big smile... Maev formerly of Celtic Woman will be in New York on Thursday December 13th... There was a sneak preview of P.S. I LOVE YOU last week. The story, written by our own Celia Ahern, looks like being a big Christmas hit while a couple of the girls from Eamonn's Bar & Grill were seen at the movie preview at the Warner Bros. screening room in midtown... O'Brien's Irish Pub on 46st Street off Time Square is a hot spot; call in and ask for the host Cormack... Great to see Broadway booming again with some great shows like Pumpgirl, starring our own Geraldine Hughes... Catch Black 47 at Connolly's West 45th Street... If you are downtown you may see Johnny Holmes spinning all your favorites at Nevada Smiths on Friday and Saturday nights... Jimmy Crowley made a rare appearance on Friday night at the Glucksman Ireland House concert series...

We see Enda Keenan busy as ever at Jack Demsey's with a full house for the Hatton-Mayweather fight... The Tipperary Hurling club paid a special tribute to Therese Crowe for the excellent work she has done over the decades for the GAA... John Mooney has done it again with an exclusive interview with Tommy Fleming, Ireland's new folk hero... Danny McDonnell your friendly bartender at O'Lunney's has the gift of the gab and advice as to where to shop... Fitzpatrick's hotel at 57th street on Lexington Avenue is buzzing with visitors from Ireland over for the shopping, do check out the new Fitzer's bar.... We stopped in at Langan's to see the newly-lean Des and the restaurant was busy, what a great place to hang out... Pat Burke from Pig 'N' Whistle across the street on 47th was packed with shoppers from Ireland buying Christmas gifts... Dublin actor Jim Norton is in town to play the drunk as he stars in Conor McPherson's 'The Seafarer' on Broadway. The show is not to be missed and look for Jim to land the Tony... Ireland is very well represented both on and off Broadway... The Irish Repertory Theatre have 'The Devil's Disciple' by Bernard Shaw, pick up a ticket and say hi to Ciaran and Charlotte.

Christmas is coming so we will be watching for all the parties, it should be some fun.
