Aer Lingus was hit by an unofficial one-hour strike by ground staff at Dublin Airport on Saturday.
The industrial action, which involved check-in staff and other ground workers was held between between 6 and 7am.
A spokesman for the airline told reporters that management were given just a 10-minute warning about the action after staff were asked to work on check-in and boarding.
Passengers on Aer Lingus flights arriving at and departing from Dublin Airport were warned they could face delays of between one-and-a-half and two hours.
The airline advised passengers to present themselves at check-in as normal.
The industrial action came at the same time that Ryanair was forced to suspend all its flights to Charleloi Airport in Brussels over the weekend after security staff began their industrial action in Belgium.
Passengers flying to and from the Belgian capital were being urged to book alternative flights free of charge on the company's website if services were available. C
