Title Battle Goes To The Wire After Draws For Chelsea And United

While The Gunners Are Close To Securing Fourth-Place

Bolton Wanderers 1 Reading 3

A Nicky Shorey own goal had given the hosts the lead soon after the hour mark but Irish striker Kevin Doyle took his tally for the season to 12 goals with a late brace, his first an equalizer from the penalty spot on 84 minutes. Stephen Hunt added a third in stoppage time to complete a remarkable victory.

Charlton Athletic 1 Sheffield United 1

Alan Pardew's men - who remain two points behind the Blades and in 18th place - had taken the lead through a long-range effort from Talal El Karkouri on the hour. However, they then sat back and the visitors leveled through Jon Stead with 20 minutes left.

Fulham 1 Blackburn Rovers 1

It's nine matches without a win for the Cottagers as Blackburn came from behind to earn a point. Lawrie Sanchez saw his side go ahead on his home debut as on-loan Italian striker Vincenzo Montella claimed the goal. But Blackburn's UEFA Cup dream, boosted by their midweek win over Watford, was revived as Benni McCarthy slotted in his 21st goal of the season for an equalizer.

Liverpool 2 Wigan Athletic 0

Dirk Kuyt scored a goal in each half taking his total for the season to 13. Wigan, desperate for something to aid their relegation fight, managed just one serious shot on target and never got close to bothering the Anfield men.

Manchester United 1 Middlesbrough 1

United took an early lead when Kieran Richardson slotted home after Wayne Rooney had collected Paul Scholes' pass and rounded Boro keeper Mark Schwarzer. But in first-half stoppage time Boro deservedly equalized as Mark Viduka's diving header beat Edwin van der Sar. United struggled to break Boro down after the break and needed a Van der Sar save to thwart Viduka.

Tottenham Hotspur 2 Arsenal 2

In the 155th North London derby at White Hart Lane, Robbie Keane opened the scoring before Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor finished off set-pieces in the second half - both delivered by Cesc Fabregas - to establish a lead before they were denied maximum points when Jermaine Jenas' injury-time strike earned Tottenham a draw.

Watford 1 Manchester City 1

A Ben Foster error gifted Darius Vassell the goal that condemned Watford to relegation after a 1-1 draw at home to City. It was unfortunate that Foster - the Hornets' best player this season - should make the mistake that ensured Adrian Boothroyd's team would return to the Championship. Sub Tamas Priskin equalized for the Vicarage Road hosts in the 75th minute but Watford were never good enough.

West Ham 1 Everton 0

A first-half goal from Bobby Zamora gave West Ham a 1-0 home win over Everton in their battle to avoid relegation. Zamora dispatched a 25-yard shot into the top corner in the 13th minute to give the Hammers renewed hope that manager Alan Curbishley can still work a miracle at Upton Park.

Newcastle United 0 Chelsea 0

On Sunday Chelsea failed to take full advantage of Man Utd's draw against Middlesbrough as they were held to a goalless draw at Newcastle. The Blues were never at their best at St James' Park, and it could have been even worse for Mourinho's men as Kieron Dyer and Andrew Carroll had chances to win it for Newcastle in the second half.

Aston Villa 0 Portsmouth 0

Sunday's other Premiership game also ended goalless as Villa and Portsmouth failed to find a goal at Villa Park. Pompey keeper David James kept a Premiership record 142nd clean sheet, but there was little else to note in a poor game.
