Uefa have fined Celtic about £400 because of an incident at the San Siro in the Champions League game against AC Milan. Uefa allege that two plastic bottles were thrown from the area holding Celtic supporters. A Celtic spokesman said of the fine: "The club still awaits official confirmation from Uefa. However the fine of 1,000 Swiss Francs (£400) says it all. Not withstanding this, we are disappointed and may consider a deal once we see the detail. We would like to add that, given the last-minute changes to arrangements for the match in Milan, the supporters were once again magnificent."

Newspaper reports say Gordon Strachan is set to beat Walter Smith to the signing of Motherwell striker Scott McDonald. The Bhoys are reported to have offered £750,000 for McDonald, the Australia international who was the subject of a failed £400,000 bid from Rangers on January's transfer deadline day. Neither club has confirmed the deal for a player who will be entering the final year of his contract this summer. However agent Lou Sticca is optimistic McDonald will sign a pre-contract agreement with another club shortly, Sticca said: "There is interest in Scott from a number of clubs but I wouldn't wish to confirm which clubs at this moment in time. However, it is correct to say that discussions are at a fairly advanced stage and something could be sorted out sooner rather than later. I have been in constant contact with Motherwell and they are fully aware of where the interest is coming from."

Bobo Balde has represented Celtic's continued campaign against racism when he presented awards to children who had completed writing and artwork, symbolizing the different forms of discrimination young people have experienced. The initiative, organized by the West of Scotland Racial Equality Council and the Public Authorities Racial Equality Forum Education Group, was held at Glasgow City Chambers and attended by Glasgow City Council representatives, including Deputy Director of Education, Margaret Doran. To provide a focus for the good work being carried out in this field, a competition was organized to produce a book entitled 'The Dignity of Difference'. To develop the book, a competition asked young people to provide artwork and written work reflecting their thoughts on racism. The book features the excellent work of a number of children from all over the West of Scotland. The decision to centre the competition on writing and artwork ensures that the impact of producing anti-racist work, and the promotion of diversity and equality goes into many schools, homes and organizations. Representing Celtic Football Club, Bobo presented awards to school children of all ages from education authorities including, East Dunbartonshire, Argyll and Bute, North Lanarkshire and South Ayrshire. Ross County youngster Graham Girvan has been invited back to Bolton for a second week of trials but the Trotters could face competition from Celtic in their bid to land the 16-year old. Girvan is at Parkhead this week hoping to earn a contract with his homecity club but the Wanderers aren't out of the chase to land the teenage right back just yet.

"Darren is a fantastic prospect. He is a lad with an old head on his young shoulders. He is level- headed and has acquitted himself superbly since coming into the team."

Portsmouth and Celtic are keeping tabs on Newcastle Utd defender Titus Bramble's contract situation. The Journal says a meeting between Toon chairman Freddy Shepherd and Bramble's advisers had been scheduled for Monday this week, but it failed to take place. Portsmouth and Celtic have been keeping a close eye on Bramble's situation and it will be an interesting few weeks as the player will have to make a decision on whether to wait for United to offer him a new deal or enter into negotiations with another club.

Steven Pressley is convinced Celtic teammate Darren O'Dea is a "fantastic prospect". He said: "Darren is a fantastic prospect. He is a lad with an old head on his young shoulders. He is level- headed and has acquitted himself superbly since coming into the team. After the game in Milan, I said to him that his performance was one of the best I've seen from a young player at that level. I was really delighted for him."

Japanese ace Shunsuke Nakamura has pledged his future to Celtic for next season. He told the Celtic View: "Some players might leave Celtic and some might arrive during the summer, but my main objective for next season would be to reach the latter stages again." Last weekend Japan earned a t 2-0 victory over Peru inspired by Nakamura. In the Asian champions' first game of 2007, Nakamura fired in a free-kick from the left-hand side, which was met by Seiichiro Maki who headed home on 19 minutes. The lead was doubled in similar circumstances as Nakamura's set piece from a similar position was fired into the net by Naohiro Takahara on 54 minutes. Celtic are keeping tabs on Shalrie Joseph after new contract talks collapsed with MLS club New England Revolution. The Grenada midfielder, who still has two years to run on his £1650-per-week contract, said: "I had a great offer from Celtic and I should be paid what I'm worth."

Henrik Larsson has revealed that he planned to retire when he left the club in May 2004. Speaking to BBC Scotland, the Swedish striker said he intended to return to his homeland, until Barcelona made a bid for him at Euro 2004 in Portugal. "I had been at Celtic for seven years, but I thought it was time to do something else," he said. "I really didn't have anything lined up, when I got a phone call from my wife saying Barcelona were interested." Larsson signed for Celtic in 1997 and went on to score 242 goals in seven years for the club. Larsson also revealed that Chris Sutton was the best striker he ever played with. He said Sutton could score goals, set them up and knew what to do with the ball even before he got it.
