While Arsenal Beat Reading To Inch Closer To Third Place
Liverpool 0 Manchester United 1
In Saturday's early game John O'Shea scored a late winner as EPL leaders Man Utd snatched a crucial 1-0 victory at Liverpool. United were outplayed for much of the match at Anfield but grabbed all three points when O'Shea turned in from close range after a Cristiano Ronaldo free-kick in injury time. Liverpool had wasted a number of opportunities to take the game but United held firm. Paul Scholes was dismissed after 86 minutes for appearing to take a swipe at Xabi Alonso with his arm.
Arsenal 2 Reading 1
At the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal moved within a point of Liverpool after seeing off Reading 2-1. The Gunners made the breakthrough after 49 minutes when Gilberto struck from the penalty spot following a foul on Gael Clichy by Andre Bikey. Julio Baptista added a second with a solo effort to settle the game on 62 minutes although Reading grabbed a consolation when Cesc Fabregas - who missed a sitter in the first half - put through his own net late on.

Sheffield United 1 Everton 1
At Bramall Lane, Mikel Arteta scored from the penalty spot to claim the equalizer as Everton bagged a point against United. Rob Hulse had put the Blades ahead when he finished with a shot across goal from a Colin Kazim-Richards cross on 52 minutes. Everton got back into the game after goalkeeper Paddy Kenny dropped a high ball and brought down Andrew Johnson in the ensuing scramble. Arteta's goal was given after his penalty bounced down over the line off the bar.
Newcastle United 0 Middlesbrough 0
Middlesbrough played out an uneventful goalless draw in the Tyne-Tees derby at St James' Park. The Magpies had the best of the chances with midfielder James Milner going the closest with a 25-yard free-kick that bounced off the Boro crossbar. Captain Scott Parker also went close with an angled low shot and header while Obafemi Martins had a chipped effort palmed away by Mark Schwarzer. Mark Viduka had Boro's best effort, but his turn and shot went two yards wide.
Watford 2 Charlton Athletic 2
At Vicarage Road, struggling Charlton came from 2-0 down to snatch a vital point against Watford. The Hornets had led since the 15th minute when Hameur Bouazza smashed home the rebound after Scott Carson had saved a header from Damien Francis, who added a second six minutes later. Darren Ambrose headed the equalizer a minute from time after Luke Young had got his side back into the game with a tight finish on 67 minutes.
Fulham 1 Aston Villa 1
Aston Villa had to settle for a draw at Fulham after seeing their first-half lead quickly cancelled out. John Carew put the visitors into the lead after 21 minutes at Craven Cottage but the hosts responded immediately to level at 1-1. Carlos Bocanegra headed in the equalizer from a Franck Queudrue free-kick.
Portsmouth 0 Chelsea 2
In the late game on Saturday Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou scored the goals to earn Chelsea a 2-0 win at Portsmouth. But they were made to work hard at Fratton Park and needed two brilliant saves from Petr Cech to keep them in front.
Bolton Wanderers 1 Blackburn Rovers 2
At the Reebok in Sunday's early game, two second-half Benni McCarthy penalties gave Blackburn a 2-1 win over Bolton. Nicolas Anelka scored a late goal to make the last few minutes nervous for the visitors, but the Trotters could not score an equalizer.
West Ham United 3 Tottenham Hotspur 4
In the late game on Sunday at Upton Park Tottenham won an extraordinary game. Spurs eventually won 4-3 despite trailing 2-0 at half time and 3-2 just minutes from full-time. But Paul Stalteri's close-range finish in the fifth added minute earned the visitors all three points and sent West Ham closer to relegation. Mark Noble had given the home side the lead on the quarter-hour with a half-volley. Four minutes before the interval Tevez curled a free-kick in off the bar to double the lead. Spurs came out firing after the break and halved the deficit through a Jermain Defoe penalty before Teemu Tainio lashed home a volley from Aaron Lennon's great flick. Then former Spur Bobby Zamora came off the bench to head the Hammers back into the lead five minutes before full-time. But there was still time for Dimitar Barbatov to curl home an 89th-minute free-kick before Stalteri's late winner.
