Kenny In New York For Fund-Raiser

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny will be in New York this week on a historic fund-raising visit (Photocall)

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny is in the United States this week and will host his parties first-ever fund-raiser here and recieve the Mayo Society's Man of The Year Award.

The fund-raiser, which will be held on Thursday night at the Harbor Lights restaurant, is expected to raise $150-per-person from the 150 to 200 expected guests.

Kenny had considered a U.S. fund-raiser earlier in the year, but their were legal issues related to both U.S. Federal and Irish election law, but the party has successfully

negotiated all the legal hurdles, allowing it to raise funds in the country. The law governing donations to political parties by people in other countries state that parties must not accept a donation from an individual other than an Irish citizen who resides abroad or from a company that does not have an office in Ireland in which at least one of its primary activities is controlled.

According to newspaper reports, Fianna Fáil are also also planning on holding a fund-raising dinner in New York during St Patrick's week if the party can arrange a permit to do so in time.
