WLIW Spectacular Offers A Virtual Tour Of The Emerald Isle
By John Mooney
Long a staple of Irish-themed programming, such as Patricia O'Reilly's news program OUT OF IRELAND and the popular BALLYKISSANGEL, WLIW-TV (PBS) Ch. 21 will present a visual showcase of the island with breathtaking footage shot from a helicopter-mounted camera in VISIONS OF IRELAND. The program will premiere on WLIW and other PBS stations beginning Saturday, March 3 at 9:00 p.m.
VISIONS OF IRELAND is a virtual tour shot from magnificent aerial views high above the remote Skellig Islands, the windswept Cliffs of Moher, and the legendary Blarney Castle. Scenes contrast modern Dublin and Belfast with the natural beauty of places such as Croagh Patrick (Co. Mayo) and Galway Bay and man-made wonders such as The Rock of Cashel (Co. Tipperary) and Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge (Co. Antrim).

"WLIW is so proud of VISIONS OF IRELAND and that we are sharing this magical island with PBS audiences nationwide. We've had a long-term relationship with our loyal Irish viewers and this is a jewel in the crown of WLIW's VISIONS series," said Laura Savini, VP - Marketing & Communications and on-air personality for WLIW.
The program presents images of Irish glens, rivers, fishing ports, castles, golf courses, and other visual wonders all over Ireland. Rich narration provides context for the stunning high definition aerial and ground views, while the soundtrack features the fiddles and pipes of traditional jigs and reels, as well as modern Celtic rock.
