All Square In The 'Pool Derby
While Chelsea And United Stay In Step At The Top
Liverpool 0 Everton 0
In Saturday's early game, Liverpool did all they could but they did not penetrate the Everton defense as the Merseyside derby finished goalless at Anfield. The Toffees defended brilliantly as Rafael Benitez's side ran out of ideas despite spending most of the second half camped in Everton's half.
Charlton Athletic 0 Chelsea 1
Chelsea secured a 1-0 win at Charlton when Amady Faye was caught in possession and Frank Lampard produced a trademark strike in the 18th minute for the only goal of the game. John Terry made a return from injury, coming off the Chelsea bench towards the end of the match.
Blackburn Rovers 2 Sheffield United 1
Inspirational Morten Gamst Pedersen earned Blackburn a 2-1 win over the Blades at Ewood Park. Brett Emerton crossed for Pedersen to head in at the far post before Jon Stead equalised. Stephen Warnock was dismissed for a second caution in the closing stages before Pedersen floated home a free-kick in added time.
Wigan Athletic1 Portsmouth 0
Wigan's Lee McCulloch proved Portsmouth's undoing in a 1-0 win at a foggy JJB Stadium. McCulloch scored the winner after 68 minutes after Pompey struggled to clear the ball.
Fulham 2 Newcastle United 1
An Heidar Helguson strike following a Nicky Butt mistake helped Fulham to a 2-1 victory over Newcastle at Craven Cottage. After a poor first half a bad backpass by Butt presented Helguson with an opportunity and the striker scored the opening goal. Brian McBride added the second before Obafemi Martins clawed one back in injury time.
Aston Villa 1 West Ham United 0
West Ham new boy Matthew Upson was forced off during a horrid afternoon against Villa which saw the struggling Londoners beaten 1-0 by a John Carew strike. Former Birmingham defender Upson, who moved to the Hammers for an initial £6million last week, appeared to fall awkwardly and was replaced by Christian Dailly. And before the break Norway striker Carew scored his first goal for the club to earn a 1-0 lead.
Middlesbrough 1 Arsenal 1
Arsene Wenger's men looked to be heading for their first defeat in nine games when Ayegbeni Yakubu made the most of Philippe Senderos' dismissal for a foul on him by converting the resulting 63rd-minute penalty. But Thierry Henry rescued the visitors 13 minutes from time when he scored from close-range after Emmanuel Adebayor had headed down Toure's cross.

Manchester City 0 Reading 2
Leroy Lita's two goals gave Reading a 2-0 win at City. After a City attack broke down the Royals pounced when Steve Sidwell fed Lita and he fired home with six minutes to play. More sloppy midfield play gave Lita another opportunity and he raced forward to bag a second.
Watford 0 Bolton Wanderers 1
A poor game at Vicarage Road saw Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka's 63rd-minute goal secure Sam Allardyce three points against Watford. Hornets keeper Ben Foster was unable to clear Gary Speed's corner and Anelka was on hand to force home the winner.
Tottenham Hotspur 0 Manchester United 4
On Sunday United ran away to a 4-0 victory at Tottenham. Christiano Ronaldo fired scored the opener at White Hart Lane on the stroke of half time from the spot after Steed Malbranque and Lee Young-Pyo tried to stop his run. Ronaldo then set up Paul Scholes for United's third after Nemanja Vidic had doubled the lead. Ryan Giggs ran through to add to Spurs' embarrassment late on and John O'Shea finished in goal as Edwin van der Sar broke his nose and United had used all their substitutes.
